The Cambridge Public Health Department offers tuberculosis TB) testing for the public, operates a hospital-based TB treatment program, investigates TB exposures in Cambridge, and provides TB case management to people who live and work in Cambridge.
Tuberculosis (TB) Testing for the Public
TB skin testing for the public is available at the Cambridge Public Health Department (119 Windsor Street, ground floor) by appointment only.
TB skin testing requires two visits. Once the TB test has been given, it must be read by a nurse or doctor within 48 to 72 hours.

Thursdays, 10:00 a.m.-11:45 a.m. (Results only)
The total cost for both visits is $23. You can pay by money order or check (payable to Cambridge Public Health Department).

Tuberculosis Program at CHA Cambridge Hospital
The health department operates a TB program that serves Cambridge and other Massachusetts communities. The program is based at the Schipellite Chest Center at CHA Cambridge Hospital. Services include:
Evaluation of patients who have a positive skin or blood test for TB.
Treatment of patients with latent TB infection.
Treatment of patients with active TB disease.
X-rays, lab tests, medications, and clinic visits.
*If you are a physician referring a patient for TB services, please include the date and size in millimeters of the patient’s positive TB skin test or TB blood test results.
Public health nurse follow-up appointments
Tuesdays, 5 p.m.–6:40 p.m.
Fridays, 9 a.m.–10:45 a.m.
Mondays, 5 p.m.–7 p.m.
Tuesdays, 3 p.m.–5:45 p.m.
Fridays, 8:30 a.m.-–0:45 a.m.
Both physician and public health nurse appointments take place at the Schipellite Chest Center at CHA Cambridge Hospital.
Tuberculosis Case Management
Cambridge public health nurses investigate and follow up on TB exposures that occur in Cambridge, provide TB care and case management services to people who live and work in Cambridge, and coordinate care with state and local health departments, as needed. Cambridge public health nurses offer the following services:
Direct observed therapy (DOT) in the home or workplace for Cambridge residents.
Case management and coordination with local health departments.
Investigation and follow up of TB exposures in Cambridge.
